Discussion - LearnCentral -
  • I was interviewed by a reporter on the topic of online conferences.  We talked about whether educators were attending these INSTEAD OF on-site conferences or IN ADDITION TO them.  Which is it for you and why?  This reporter really questioned why people would would be willing to give up the nice meals, free tours, and ice cream bars you get at traditional on-site conferences.&nb

Hi Deidre! What time is your concept mapping session today? I see the event listed twice; once to your personal calendar and once to the Host your own Webinars group calendar. Thanks!

Hi Dierdre. The Elluminate Training sessions are all finished up, but we will still be running with the slide design sessions. I am holding them in our VHSG Elluminate since the format doesn't really suite a recorded version with its less structured, more 'jump in and collaborate with whatever people bring in as needs with their slide design' style. I will be getting the event added to the LearnCentral Calendar though, even though it will be a link to a non-Learn-Central Elluminate room.

Oh, I just read your comments on your LearnCentral wall and see that the concept mapping event was intended for the bog LearnCentral room. I think you may have forgotten to change the location from your vRoom (that is the default) to the main meeting room. You will need to copy paste the LearnCentral guest link in that spot. :0)

We are a big user of Cmap in our family and have built quite a library of concept maps as a family as a natural part of our educational activities. I was even using concept mapping using stick it notes before software became available. Yay for software! If you are curious about what our family has built as a long term, collaborative project, go to our family cmap root map at http://cmapspublic2.ihmc.us/rid=1161009382437_885763749_8663/armoorefam%20Home%20Cmap.cmap

If you visit the student portfolios link from the main page, a good one is Timothy's 7th grade one and Zachary's 2nd grade one. THe current school year is coming together nicely, but it is still pretty early in the year so many of the maps yet satand empty waiting to be filled during the upcoming studies. :0)

The subject area link is another good link to jump off from in our root map. We have now built up a pretty good set of chemistry, biology, physics, amd history libraries.

Awwww, I will be teaching online at that time
of your concept map presentation and will have to miss it. I noticed that the location was a vRoom
instead of the main LearnCentral room. Do you think you could hold it
in the main room so that it can be recorded? I would love to get to see
    it.

Hey Deirdre. I have updated the Creative Elluminate wbd Lab group's calendar to have recording links as well as added the recordings in to the group's prortfolio section. :0)
